News Release
Monday, April 30, 2018

SUGAR LAND — Sugar Land Rotary Club planted ten large live oaks in Sugar Land Memorial Park Saturday to celebrate Earth Day and to give back to the community that has supported the club for the last 30 plus years.

Jim Munnell, president of the Rotary Club, said “The 14-feet high by 6-feet wide live oaks will provide a lot of shade for family gatherings and has instantly enhanced the landscape.”

Houston Landscapes Unlimited (HLU), located in Fort Bend County, planted the trees to celebrate its company’s 35th year anniversary.

“This is a great time to thank the community that has made our success possible,” Dean Carpenter, president of HLU and vice president of the Rotary Club, explained.

Earth Day, established in 1970, is an annual global event to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
