Ready, Set, Stage! at AMSET’s FREE Family Arts Day

Beaumont, Texas - The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) hosts Ready, Set, Stage! Free Family Arts Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 19, 2018. 

Children and their families will participate in art activities including Gator Biters – an alligator craft, Crown Cookies – decorate your own cookies with icing and sprinkles, Critter Masks – assemble a mask resembling your favorite animal, Set and Stage Photobooth – stage your very own movie set where parents can take photos of their children, Make-Your-Own Masterpiece – children will emulate large paintings by Artist Shaun Roberts, Crowns Fit for Royalty – children will create crowns resembling the crowns featured in Anthony Sonnenberg’s exhibition. Activities are inspired by AMSET’s current exhibitions, Shaun Roberts: Rebels and Renegades and Anthony Sonnenberg: Still Stage, Set Life.

Join soprano and storyteller Hope Shiver in King Rhythm, a journey through African American History.  Children can participate in the performances with costumes and acting out the roles of beloved characters.  These live performances are at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in AMSET’s Lecture Hall.  Complimentary punch will be served.  A concession stand serving ballpark-style food will be available, as well as free face painting.  Throughout the day, AMSET will draw winners for art supply baskets and gift cards.
