Galveston College Community Chorale sets spring concert
News Release
Thursday, May 03, 2018

GALVESTON, Texas – The Galveston College Community Chorale’s free spring concert, “Spirituals,” is set for Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at Moody Methodist Church, located at 53rd and Avenue U in Galveston, Texas.

The theme “Spirituals” was inspired by, and is in memory of, Izola Collins, long-time contributor to the music community in Galveston.

Some of the spirituals will be “Ain't That Good News,” “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho,” “Soon I Will Be Done” and “Keep Your Lamps.” The chorale is especially pleased to perform an original arrangement “Steal Away” by Collins.

The program will be directed by Michael Gilbert with accompaniment by Ron Wyatt.

“We hope you will wrap up your Mother’s Day and Historical Homes Tour weekend by joining us for this rousing concert,” Gilbert said.
