Comite De Negocios celebrates Cinco De Mayo in Galveston

Comite De Negocios, Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce held its 2nd annual Cinco De Mayo celebration and mixer in Edna’s Room at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston on Thursday. Guests were entertained by Ballet Folklórico dancers from Burnet Elementary. The second through fourth grade students danced under the direction of first grade teachers, Melissa Garcia and Jacqueline Peimbert and Kalli Savell the school counselor. “The kids were so excited to come perform,” said Melissa. “We practice all year and really look forward to being included at events such as this.” 

GRCC board member, Cipriano Romero J.D. who serves as the chairman of the Comite De Negocios, welcomed the guests. Vivian Hernandez, assistant chair of the Comite De Negocios and Bilingual District Family and Community Engagement Specialist with GISD introduced the dancers. The Grand’s Maureen Patton watched as the children danced and expressed her delight in the evening, “The children are just so precious to watch.” 

Food was donated from many island favorite spots along with a few home-made treats.
