Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Sunday's fatal crash involving a pedestrian at 1400 Congress.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1400 Congress

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 1400 Congress about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday (May 13).

The identity of the male victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Perrotte reported:

Witnesses stated the driver of a blue Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on Congress when she changed lanes and then ran the red light at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle left the roadway, drove up onto a curb and struck the victim, a pedestrian.  The car continued on and struck a building.  Paramedics transported the victim to St. Joseph Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver sustained two broken ankles and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2400 Berry Road

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2400 Berry Road about 11:35 a.m. on Sunday (May 13).

The identity of the male victim, 25, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Linscomb and Officer D. Jones reported:

The victim was operating a black Yamaha R6 motorcycle eastbound at the above address when he failed to maintain a single lane, lost control of the motorcycle and crossed a ditch on the south side of the street.  The impact ejected the victim from the motorcycle.  Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4300 West Airport Boulevard

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4300 West Airport Boulevard about 9:35 a.m. on Saturday (May 12).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Morgado reported:

The victim was driving a burgundy Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound at the above address when he failed to maintain a single lane, left the roadway and struck a curb.  The impact caused the truck to spin and roll over, dislodging steel and concrete barriers in an esplanade.  The truck then caught fire.  Witnesses arrived and assisted in pulling the victim from the burning truck.  Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. 

No other persons or vehicles were involved in the crash.  The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 13500 Hooper Road

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13500 Hooper Road about 9:35 p.m. on Saturday (May 12).

The identity of the male victim, 31, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Baker reported:

The victim was driving a black Dodge Charger northbound at the above address when he failed to drive in a single lane and crashed into a ditch.  The impact caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle.  Paramedics arrived and transported him to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other persons or vehicles were involved in the crash.  The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8800 Southwest Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8800 Southwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 59 South) about 11:35 p.m. last Friday (May 11).

The identity of the male victim, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer E. Clark reported:

The victim was a passenger in a white Nissan Altima traveling inbound (northbound) on the freeway at the above address.  For unknown reasons, the driver stated the victim exited the vehicle as it was in motion and was then fatally struck by several vehicles.

The female driver of the Nissan was not injured.  She stated she tried to stop the victim from exiting the vehicle.  No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
