Wednesday, May 16, 2018

Webster City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to elect Andrea Wilson as mayor pro tem.

Wilson and Jennifer Heidt were installed for another term on the city council after both were unopposed for re-election on May 5.

The city council voted to appoint Bob Fry to the Harris County Municipalities Waste Disposal Council's representative to the Gulf Coast Authority Board of Directors.

The city council voted to award a $3,106,300 contract to Fused Industries, LLC for the Destination Development Phase I Public Infrastructure Project.

Fused Industries submitted the lowest of five bids received for the work.

The city council voted to authorize the purchase of two new fire apparatus from Siddons-Martin Emergency Group, LLC in the amount of $2,430,934.

One unit will be a velocity PUC Platform, while the second is a velocity PUC Pumper truck. The units will replace Ladder 14 and Engine 14.

The city council voted to approve the purchase of a 24 foot rescue/dive boat from Silver Ships, Inc. in the amount of $126,390.

The city council voted to authorize the mayor to execute a tourism agreement with Space Center Houston, in the amount of $325,000, for FY2018.

The cost will be paid from the city's Hotel Occupancy Tax revenues. Space Center Houston requested the amount for the year-long tourism marketing program.

The request represents a 54 percent increase over past years. However, according to Economic Development Director Betsy Giusto, Space Center Houston is offering “a wider, more impactful array of initiatives and programming.”

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda
