H-GAC Transportation Policy Council

The Houston-Galveston Area Council Transportation Policy Council on Friday voted unanimously to approve the 2019-2022 Transportation Improvement Program.

The new TIP will have to be transmitted to the Texas Department of Transportation by June 18, 2018. Item Summary

The policy council voted unanimously to approve the 2040 RTP Planning Factors and Performance Measures.

The proposed amendment will add a new appendix incorporating three new planning factors as well as new system performance measures. Item Summary

The policy council voted unanimously to approve 16 amendments to the 2017–2020 Transportation Improvement Program and 2040 Regional Transportation Plan.

The policy council voted unanimously to recognize the service of H-GAC Executive Director Jack Steele, whose retirement is effective June 1. Steele’s successor is Chuck Wemple. Listen (4:24)

TPC Chair Matt Sebesta called Steele “an outstanding asset to this region.”

“It’s a high privilege to serve as a member of this group that does such important work,” said Steele. “As you go forward, three thoughts. First, it’s going to be vital that we fully utilize the capacities to meet the growing need to move people and goods in this region. Second, to do that, we’re going to have to have a truly integrated regional plan and system. And third, we’re going to have to continue to fund that system.”

All other agenda items were approved unanimously. The policy council achieved a quorum of 22 members. Agenda Attendance
