Press Release
Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Michael CorcoranJoin the Brazoria County Historical Museum on Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. as it hosts author and award-winning music critic Michael Corcoran for his book All Over the Map: True Heroes of Texas Music.  Limited quantities of the book will be available for sale at the Museum during the event.  Admission to the program is free.  For more information, telephone (979) 864-1208 or visit the Museum's website at www.bchm.org.

Michael Corcoran will discuss his book, All Over the Map: True Heroes of Texas Music, which introduces a collection of forty-two profiles of Texas musicians and pays tribute to their accomplishments. In his book, Corcoran covers musicians from a range of genres, from country to rap, and from blues to conjunto. Corcoran groups the profiled musicians by region: East Texas, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco area, Austin, San Antonio & Rio Grande Valley, and West Texas. His focus is on underappreciated artists, those musical pioneers who haven't fully received their due. Some of these artists mentioned in Corcoran's book include Rebert Harris of the Soul Stirrers, Floyd Tillman, Archie Bell and The Drells, Cindy Walker, Lydia Mendoza, and the Chuck Wagon Gang. Expertly written, All Over the Map is a musical waltz across Texas.
