Weber votes for Farm Bill
Press Release
Thursday, June 21, 2018

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, June 21, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (H.R. 2), known as Farm Bill. This bill allows for a five-year reauthorization of appropriations for federal agriculture, conservation, and nutrition programs. It strengthens our agricultural economy and provides farmers certainty and stability. In addition, it reforms the nation’s nutrition programs by establishing substantive work requirements for work-capable adults. Following the vote, Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:

“The value in a hard day’s work and the satisfaction it brings is undeniable. The reforms to nutrition programs and increased work requirements in this bill provide a hand up instead of a hand out. For work-capable adults age 18 to 59, the bill provides critical training to help people develop the necessary skills to gain well-paying jobs, self-sufficiency, and better futures for themselves and their families. This hand up gives our neighbors the tools they need to achieve their dreams. The trap of poverty and welfare is cyclical, and this is one step toward ending that cycle.”
