Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to award a $133,000 contract to Gulf Coast Electric Co., Inc. for electrical repairs to the Loeb Water Well No. 1 Site.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize a request to rezone property at 95 South Major Drive from a Neighborhood Commercial District to a Residential Multiple Family Dwelling District to allow for the construction of an apartment complex.

The city council voted unanimously to grant a specific use permit to allow a residential substance abuse treatment facility at 4655 Collier Street.

The city coucncil took no action regarding a specific use permit to allow the expansion of a church at the corner of Rust Street and 13th Street. The item was removed from the agenda.

The city council voted unanimously to grant a specific use permit for a new shopping center just south of 3529 Major Drive.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the settlement of the claim of David Lee, in the amount of $6,579.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the settlement of the claim of Linda Lee, in the amount of $5,325.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize settlement in the claim of Jormanny Williams and Samuel Thibodeaux in the amount of $11,795.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the settlement of the claim of of Walter Mayfield in the amount of $6,000.

The city council voted 4-2, with Virginia Jordan and Mike Getz opposed, to declare nine structures as structures as unsafe and order them to be demolished within 10 days. One structure, located at 2435 Long, as well as an auxiliary building, was enrolled in a work program.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Bill Sam was absent. Agenda
