July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza Still Scheduled

Decision to be made at 3 p.m. on whether to postpone

League City’s July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza is still on schedule to begin tonight at 6 p.m. at the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex located at 1251 League City Parkway.  A decision will be made by City staff at 3 p.m. today whether to postpone the event because of weather.

The free event will feature 14 food trucks, live music and entertainment, a play area for the kids, craft and artist booths, and a fireworks show that will begin promptly at 9 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets. Coolers are welcome, but pop-up tents are not allowed.

Public parking will be available at the Sportsplex on a first-come, first-served basis, so residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and arrive early. The City is providing a downloadable event map which includes entrance and parking information. In addition, complimentary shuttle buses will be available at Hometown Heroes Park starting at 5 p.m. and will transport riders to and from the Sportsplex.

Residents who want to enjoy the fireworks display outside of the Sportsplex, can follow along with the music by downloading the SkyWonder Pyrotechnics app on their smart phone. The fireworks will also be carried live on the City’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/LeagueCityTexas.
