Barrios Technology BARRIOS TECHNOLOGY (Houston, TX): JOHNSON SPACE CENTER (Houston, TX): Barrios Technology employee Damon Smith was recently presented with the SFA Local Recognition Award for his exceptional work on a software release for the International Space Station supporting the Boeing Engineering and Technical Services (BETS) contract. It recognizes his dedication to excellence and commitment to personally ensuring safety and mission success in support of NASA’s human spaceflight programs.

Smith was given the opportunity to view the landing of Soyuz 52S from JSC’s White Flight Control Room as it returned Russian Cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin and American Astronauts Mark Vande Hei and Joe Acaba to Earth.

The SFA Local Recognition Award is used to recognize local employees for their dedication to quality work and flight safety and mission success. Awardees will have the opportunity to be recognized at an award program, participate in a special program milestone event, as appropriate, and meet with top NASA and industry officials. To meet the criteria for this award, the individual’s job performance must be oriented either directly or indirectly to human space flight safety or mission success.
