Harris County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve the Harris County Supplemental Action Plan for Hurricane Harvey Round-1 Texas Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funding, Harris County Residential Buyout Program guidelines for 2015, 2016, and Hurricane Harvey CDBG-DR funding for submission to the Texas General Land Office.

Community Services Department Deputy Director Daphne Lemelle said her office and all the commissioner’s offices “have engaged in community engagement” and took comments from more than 900 people in the county. Listen (7:53)

“The more we know, the more we can build a plan that addresses the needs out there,” said Lemelle.

The court held a public hearing prior to voting on the item.

The court voted unanimously to approve a recommendation for authorization to publish request for qualifications in conjunction with the Purchasing Agent for engineering firms to provide staffing to supplement current staffing for the Office of the County Engineer to ensure timely delivery of mitigation and recovery projects.

The court voted unanimously to approve a payment in the amount of $300 for 2018 annual membership dues to the South Texas County Judges' & Commissioners' Association.

The court voted unanimously to approve an amendment to an interlocal agreement with the City of Houston for the Fire Marshal to inspect certain county buildings in the incorporated limits of the city approved by Commissioners Court on May 22, 2018.

The court voted unanimously to recognize Myra Smith on the occasion of her retirement for 36 years of service to the county.

Steve Radack abstained on an item requesting approval of sole source exemptions from the competitive bid requirements for Phonoscope, Inc.
