Cornyn on New Army Futures Command Coming to Austin
News Release
Friday, July 13, 2018

AUSTIN—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of the Army announced its new Army Futures Command Headquarters (ARFCOMHQ) will be based in Austin:

“Austin’s dynamic growth, access to top research institutions like the University of Texas, and proximity to innovative tech and business industries make the city a strong choice for the new Army Futures Command,” said Sen. Cornyn.  “I look forward to supporting this new Command as it develops technologies to carry our nation’s warfighters into the future.”

Sen. Cornyn wrote a letter to Secretary of the Army Mark Esper last month promoting Austin as the location for the Army Futures Command Headquarters.

Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, is a member of the Senate Finance, Intelligence, and Judiciary Committees.
