Monday, August 13, 2018


September 1-30, 2018.  Sugar Cane to Cane Sugar.   Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site provides an informative video, tour and display on one of Louisiana’s oldest cash crops, sugarcane.  Learn how sugar was and is planted, harvested and granulated.  Ask about the table top sugarcane grinder in use.  9am-5pm. Wed-Sun.  Fees.  337-394-3754. 

September 3, 2018.  Labor Day.  City of St. Martinville and the Museums will be closed.   

September 8, 2018.  PAR-TEA!  Girls aged 6-17 years of age, along with their Moms, are invited to wear their finest dresses and come have tea with Mayor Melinda Mitchell at the Duchamp Opera House, 200 South Main Street.  A movie and a tour of the historic district and museums are included.  Ticket information coming shortly.  Call Shekinah or Danielle at 337-394-2230 for information.   

September 8, 2018.  Hummingbird Program.   Details to be announced.  2-3pm.  Fees.  Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site.  337-394-3754. 

September 13-15,  2018 is the  27th annual Kiwanis Pepper Festival. Live music and performances by local dance groups, arts and crafts, vendors, food, drinks and the famous pepper eating contest.  Contact Dana Dugas at 337-201-1232 for more info.

                                                        Pepper eating contest 8:45pm ($200 1st prize)

                                                        Geno Delafosse and French Rockin Boogie 9-10:30pm

September 29, 2018.  La Table Créole.  Come learn and speak Creole.  Last Sat of the month.  2pm.  Parks Middle School Library.  Contact Velma Johnson at 337-394-3337 for more information.
