Pearland City Council

Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to award a $208,177 contract to HDR Engineering for design services associated with the State Highway Northbound Frontage Road Off-Site Drainage Project.

The frontage road project, originally slated to begin construction in 2025, has been accelerated to take advantage of pricing contained in the State Highway 288 Toll Lane contract.

The city council postponed action regarding the approval of flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program, in the amount of $32,940.

The city council voted 6-0, with Derrick Reed away from the table, to approve an ordinance to issue certificates of obligation.

The city will issue approximately $7.5 million in bonds to fund several projects.

The city council voted 6-1, with Tony Carbone opposed, to authorize expenditures for two change orders associated with the State Highway 288 Corridor Enhancements Interlocal Agreement between the city, Municipal Management District No. 2, and Brazoria County.

The change orders include $500,000 for sculpture foundations and $121,461 for the Hughes Ranch Road drainage improvements.

The ciyt council voted 4-3, with Reed, Gary Moore, and Woody Owens opposed, to approve annexation of approximately 31 acres by Brazoria Municipal Utility District No. 22.

The city council voted 6-0, with Moore away from the table, to authorize eminent domain for the acquisition of property needed for the Mykawa Road Lift Station Project.

The city council voted 6-0, with Owens away from the table, to approve a final change order with Construction Masters of Houston, Inc. in the amount of $152,885, associated with the City Hall Renovation Project.

The city council discussed, but took no action regarding an alternative plan design for retiree insurance.

The city council took no action resulting from executive session discussions regarding the purchase, exchange or lease of property and discussions regarding pending or potential litigation.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
