Houston Methodist West hosts August GA, Katy ISD Education Foundation featured

On Tuesday, August 14, Katy Area Economic Development Council members and guests gathered at Houston Methodist West Hospital for the Katy Area EDC August General Assembly meeting.  The world-class hospital played host to the meeting which featured presentations by the Katy ISD Education Foundation and Houston Methodist West.

Katy ISD Education Foundation serves as a catalyst for extraordinary teachers to create extraordinary classroom experiences for their students according to its mission statement. Board members Chris Crockett and Randy Petty were on hand to share information about the organization and its commitment to helping Katy ISD teachers and students.  In 2017 alone, the foundation awarded over $300,000 in grants.  If you’d like to donate to the foundation and help fund its work, visit katyisdeducationfoundation.org.

Caroline Champion, Houston Methodist West Director of Business Development and Service Lines, shared information about the host venue.  Houston Methodist West is a full-service, acute care hospital offering cutting-edge medical and surgical care for the Katy area.  The growing hospital recently completed a large-scale expansion including a six-level, 200,000+ square foot hospital tower and a new parking structure.  You can learn more about Houston Methodist West at houstonmethodist.org/locations/katy-west/.

New members introduced at the meeting included Clayton Nash Real Estate, Diversity on Demand and Katy Hydraulics.

Membership renewals recognized included Board of Governors members City of Katy and Katy Magazine.  Strategic Partner Harris County ESD #48 was recognized along with Associate members Belvoir Real Estate Group, Si Energy, Stewart Title and Transwestern for renewal as well.

Christ Clinic and Houston Methodist West served as sponsors for the event.  Christ Clinic provides low-cost healthcare to adults in need in the Katy area.  Lara Hamilton, Executive Director, shared information about the organization including its upcoming fundraiser Breakfast For A Blessing.  For more information on the organization or to register for the fundraiser breakfast, visit christclinic.org.
