Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to postpone the final vote on the proposed FY2019 Budget until after the second public hearing on the proposed tax rate, which is scheduled for September 11.

The city council voted 6-1, with Mike Getz opposed, to approve a 3 percent increase in base wages for the city manager, city attorney, city clerk and chief magistrate.

The city council voted unanimously to apply for and accept a Routine Airport Maintenance Program Grant from the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division.

The state offers a 50 percent matching grant for as much as $100,000 each fiscal year.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize application and acceptance of grant funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The city is seeking $79,977 in grants with a local match of $23,325.

The city council voted unanimously to grant a specific use permit, with conditions, to allow a small wholesale food preparation facility in a General Commercial-Multiple Family Dwelling District located at 1195 North Grand Street.

The city council voted unanimously to deny a request for a specific use permit to allow a gaming facility at 6470 Washington Boulevard.

The city council voted unanimously to rename Homsar Pointe Boulevard to Northwest Parkway.
