Culberson Joins Restaurant Owners for Roundtable Discussion
Press Release
Thursday, August 30, 2018

CulbersonHOUSTON – Congressman John Culberson (TX-07) participated in a roundtable discussion with local restaurant owners at Frank’s Americana Revival, hosted by the Texas Restaurant Association and the National Restaurant Association. Texas’s Seventh District is home to 1,800 dining establishments and employs 40,694 Houstonians.

“I’m grateful to the Texas Restaurant Association, the National Restaurant Association, and restaurant owners from across Houston for taking time to discuss issues important to their businesses,” said Rep. Culberson. “The restaurant industry is an integral part of the Houston economy and is the backbone of communities across America. This year, I was proud to support the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to deliver real results to these businesses and to Houstonians alike. Thanks to tax reform, Houstonians have better job opportunities, higher wages, and more money in their pockets to enjoy the flourishing restaurants in our local communities. I’ll take what I learned today back with me to Washington as I continue my work to remove burdensome regulations on small businesses so that these ambitious, hardworking, and entrepreneurial business owners continue to thrive.”

“It was an honor to have Congressman John Culberson join the Texas Restaurant Association and local restauranteurs today at Frank’s Americana Revival in Houston to discuss the challenges of and opportunities for our industry,” said Richie Jackson, CEO, Texas Restaurant Association. “Texas’s Seventh Congressional District is home to more than 1,800 restaurants, employing more than 40,000 hardworking Texans. We are very fortunate to have a champion in Congressman Culberson, who has proven himself to be committed to finding solutions, such as sensible immigration reform, to help secure the long-term success of our industry and our state’s economy.”

The Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) is the leading business association for Texas’ $52.4 billion foodservice industry, which spans over 43,000 locations throughout the state, employing a workforce of 1.2 million – 12 percent of the state’s employment.
