LPCPAA hosts Krystas Karing Angels September 5th, 2018
News Release
Friday, August 31, 2018

The La Porte Police Department (LPPD) and the La Porte Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association (LPCPAA) are excited to announce a special guest during the September 6th, 2018 LPCPAA monthly meeting. The monthly meeting is 6:00pm at the La Porte Police Department, 3001 N 23rd, La Porte Texas. Krystas Karing Angels are scheduled to present their life-saving message on the deadly consequences of driving while intoxicated.

Founders, Mark and Terri Rodriguez formed Krystas Karing Angels after the death of their 22-year-old daughter Krysta Rodriguez. A drunk driver killed Krysta on February 11, 2010. “Our family could not let her just be another cross on the side of the road.” Stated Mark Rodriguez.

The morning Krysta was killed, Mark and his wife wanted to do something to educate and raise awareness to the dangers of drunk driving. Drunk driving is a Choice and is a 100% preventable crime. Preventing the commission of the crime is the focus of all their presentations.

Krystas Karing Angels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness to the dangers of drunk driving. Krystas Karing Angels presentation locations include high schools, colleges, universities, corporate safety days and many law-enforcement agencies.

Krystas Karing Angels passion and heartfelt desire to bring hope to a tragic situation drew several more families into the organization. To date, eight families tragically affected by a drunk driver chose to donate their loved one’s crashed vehicle to the organization. Each car is placed on a trailer with a plaque telling their own personal tragic story. These vehicles and the heart-wrenching stories are nearing 450 presentations, reaching thousands of people. Mark Rodriguez reminds us, “drunk driving is a choice, it's a crime, and it is 100% preventable!”

Please come and joins us as we work to rid the City of La Porte of the horrific crime of driving while intoxicated. La Porte’s CPA is a community awareness program that is intended to create a stronger partnership between the police department and the citizens they serve. For questions concerning La Porte’s Citizens Police Academy, contact Officer Anthony Bish at 281-842-3124. You can also visit LPPD’s website at for more information, and to obtain a printable version of the initial application form.
