Deer Park City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to propose a property tax rate of $0.72 per $100 valuation for the 2018 Tax Year.

The rate is the same as the previous year. The proposed rate also exceeds the effective rate of $0.707705 per $100 valuation, which would result in generating additional revenues compared to 2017 based on existing tax rolls.

The city council may adopt a lower rate than the proposed rate, but may not exceed it.

The city council voted to schedule public hearings September 25 and October 2 to receive public input regarding the proposed 2018 Tax Rate.

The city council voted to authorize staff to advertise for and receive bids for the Deer Park EMS Station Project.

The city council voted to cast the city's ballot in favor of electing Jason Reynolds, city manager of Nassau Bay, for election to the Texas Municipal League MIEBP Board of Trustees.

The city council voted to cast the city's ballots in favor of electing Randy Criswell, Bert Lumbreras, Byron Black and David Rutledge. to the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool Board of Trustees.

The city council voted to appoint Donald Zuckero, Smokey Mather and Bob Hotten to the Creim Control and Prevention District Board of Directors.

The city council voted to appoint Sam Pipkin, Michael Records and Brent Hahn to the Fire Control and Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Board of Directors.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Council Member Sherry Garrison absent. Agenda
