Fort Bend County
Sugar Land City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, September 05, 2018

Sugar Land City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt a revised plan for the city's Single Member Council Districts.

The change in the district was required by the annexation of the Greatwood and New Territory to the city, which resulted in significantly larger populations for Districts 2 and 4.

The revised plan will result in four single-member council districts with substantially equal populations.

The city council voted 4-0-1, with Steve Porter abstaining, to approve items on the consent agenda.

Council Member Himesh Gandhi was not present at the time of the vote.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, na ordinance granting a one-time variance from the city's Code of Ordinances to allow for the sale of alcoholic beverages at Lonnie Green Park during receptions related to a city-partnered event, known as Umbria.

Council Member Bridget Yeung was not present during the vote.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
