Isle neighborhoods to host annual National Night Out on Oct. 2
News Release
Tuesday, September 11, 2018

This national event promotes neighborhood camaraderie by bringing neighbors together to effectively identify and fight crime while building relationships with one another and the Galveston Police Department

GALVESTON, TEXAS – Isle neighborhoods for a night next month will host block parties and community cookouts to bring residents together with local law enforcement and first responders.

Galveston joins communities across the country in celebrating National Night Out – an annual community-police relationship building and awareness campaign. The event is organized by the Galveston Police Department and will be held in neighborhoods across Galveston on the night of Tuesday, Oct. 2.

“One of the best ways to prevent crime is by knowing your neighborhood and having a relationship with your neighbors and first responders,” said Lt. Clint Stevens, organizer for this year’s National Night Out. “By attending National Night Out you’re helping build a stronger, safer community.”

National Night Out is in its 35th year operating as an event to prevent crime, generate support for anti-crime initiatives, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and relationships between communities and police.

Depending on how the neighborhood decides to celebrate, festivities may include potlucks, cookouts or family-friendly demonstrations by first responders and local law enforcement.  To find out what’s happening in your neighborhood, please call (409) 765-3606 or email

If you’re interested in becoming a block captain and hosting an event in your neighborhood, you can register at, or by calling (409) 765-3606 or emailing

“National Night Out is a great opportunity to get together with our neighbors,” Galveston Police Chief Vernon Hale said. “We look forward to this event each year as a time to meet new neighbors and share ideas about how to make our community the best place to live.”

We look forward to seeing you at one of the many events across the island on Oct. 2!
