Friendswood City Council on Monday voted 5-2, with Steve Rockey and Carl Gustafson opposed, to propose a property tax rate of $0.532390 per $100 valuation for the 2018 Tax Year.

The rate is equal to the effective tax rate, which will result in revenues approximately equal to the previous year, based on existing property on the tax rolls.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Sally Branson as representative and Mayor Mike Foreman as alternate to the Houston-Galveston Area Council 2019 General Assembly and Board of Directors.

The city council voted 6-1, with John Scott opposed, to approve a change order for Old City Park.

The change order is for an increase of $82,000 for a concrete driveway to and 44 additional parking spaces.

The city council voted unanimously to unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement with the Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District for a regional detention pond at 1776 Park.

An amendment was offered to the item, but the amendment failed by a vote of 2-5, with Branson, Trish Hanks, Robert Griffon, Scott and Gustafson opposed.

The city council voted unanimously to endorse appointments to the Galveston County Untied Board of Health, as nominated by the Galveston County Commissioners Court.

Tripp Montalbo, Curtis Klages, Mary Jo Godinich, and Patrick McGinnis were reappointed to the board, while Holly Lilley, Della Grusendorf Brown and Dewey H. Brunt were appointed as new members.

The city council took no action regarding schedule special city council meetings for September 19 and 24 to discuss items related to the budget. The item was pulled from the agenda and not considered.
