Joe Marcus, program coordinator of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, will discuss his book Texas Wildflowers: A Field Guide, which is a guide for identifying Texas roadside flowers. Marcus has completely updated and reorganized the guide, which was first published in 1984 and written by Campbell and Lynn Loughmiller. This new edition has organized each flower by color and within each color section by flowering season.  He also has added stunning, full-color photographs of every wildflower. This book contains over 300 species all with descriptive identifying information that includes common and botanical names, plant and leaves, flowers and fruit, flowering season, range and habitat, and comments. Additionally he has included a map of Texas vegetational areas, glossaries with definitions and illustrations of botanical terms, bibliography of other wildflower books, indexes, and a journal for note taking. With more than 175,000 copies sold, Texas Wildflowers: A Field Guide has become the go-to guide of Texas wildflowers.
