Coast Guard urges public to prepare for tropical disturbance off Texas coast

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard is urging the public to take necessary precautions before landfall of a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico. 

Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi personnel are preparing for a tropical depression, and are working closely with federal, state and local partners to mitigate the effects of flooding associated with the storm. 

The Coast Guard urges residents along the Texas gulf coast to have emergency supplies on reserve throughout the hurricane season, along with an evacuation plan. 

Residents should:

  • Closely monitor appropriate weather news sources
  • Take necessary precautions in the event of flooding 
  • Purchase non-perishable food items
