Sunday, September 16, 2018

AUSTIN – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw on Saturday issued the following statement on the death of Thomas A. Davis Jr., who retired from DPS as the director in 2008.

“The department is saddened to have lost one of our own, Colonel Thomas Davis. Throughout his career, Colonel Davis took the law enforcement profession and his oath to serve and protect Texas very seriously,” said Director McCraw. “He demonstrated a selfless commitment to help others during his more than 43 years of proud service at the department, with more than eight of those years leading DPS as the director. Our hearts are with the family and friends of Colonel Davis during this very difficult time.”

Services for Colonel Thomas A. Davis Jr. will be Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at Shoreline Church (15201 Burnet Road) in Austin.
