Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to adopt the city's FY2019 Budget.

The budget includes appropriations totaling $126,717,700 for General Fund expenditures, including a $1.5 million contingency.

Other funds include $17,153,500 in debt service, and $51,278,000 for water utilities.

The city council voted to establsih a property tax rate of $0.71 per $100 valuation for Tax Year 2018. The rate is the same as the current rate, with revenues from $0.49191 per $100 valuation to fund maintenance and operation of the city and revenues from the remaining $0.21809 per $100 valuation to be dedicated to making payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The city council voted to amend an agreement with Beaumont Pets Alive for the city's trap-neuter-return program.

Beaumont Pets Alive will perform 10 free feral cat sterilizations per month under the amended agreement, and will charge the city $32 per sterilization for any they perform in excess of 10.

The city council voted to approve a mutual aid agreement with the Chambers County Sheriff's Office.

The city council voted to approve an interlocal agreement with the Port of Beaumont to allow the port to use city contracts for emergency repair of a storm sewer damaged by a sinkhole.

The city council voted to extend a deadline for six months for the parking, use, and occupancy of recreational vehicles, manufactured housing and industrialized housing as temporary living quarters on residential property while repairs are being made of damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.
