Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to adopt the city's $212,038,260 operating budget for FY2019.

The budget includes various new positions, including a traffic engineer, six firefighters, four police officers, a park naturalist, as well as city-wide incident command training, start-up costs for Fire Station No. 1, and a 2 percent cost of living adjustment.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt a property tax rate of $0.709158 per $100 valuation for the 2018 Tax Year.

Of the total tax rate, revenues from $0.279458 per $100 valuation will be dedicated to the city's maintenance and operations, with revenues from $.043 per $100 valuation allocated to payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt a five-year Capital Improvement Program for 2019-2013.

The program totals $676,095,299, with $153,001,858 to be appropriated for FY2019.

The city council voted 6-0, with Derrick Reed not present, to approve the purchase of 15 vehicles from Silsbee Ford in the amount of $488,538.

The city council voted 5-1, with Reed away and Gary Moore opposed, to deny a rate increase proposed by Texas-New Mexico Power Company for electric service.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
