SWAT standoff ends in suspect’s arrest
News Release
Thursday, September 27, 2018

A 43-year old Friendswood man was taken into custody at 5:19 a.m. on September 27 following a six hour-long standoff with police. Donald Lee Hunter is charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer and Assault Causing Bodily Injury (family violence).

Earlier in the evening, Hunter assaulted his 39-year old wife at their home in the 1200 block of Piney Woods Drive.  The victim escaped the home and reported the incident to police at 10:00 p.m. on September 26.

When officers responded to the residence where the assault occurred, they were confronted at the front door by an armed suspect brandishing an AR15-style rifle. Friendswood Police Department’s tactical and crisis negotiation team responded when patrol officers were unable to gain compliance from the suspect.

At 5:19 a.m. on September 27, the suspect was taken into custody. Hunter’s bond is set at $41,500.
