Jefferson County Commissioner Court today voted unanimously to adopt an order authorizing the issuance of bonds by the Mission Economic Development Corporation for financing the construction of a methanol production facility in Beaumont by NatGasoline, LLC.

The county claims no liability, financial obligation, or responsibility for the revenue bonds. The corporation plans to issue $360 million in revenue bonds to fund the construction of the facility.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding award of a contract to Southeast Texas Building Services, Inc. for janitorial services for the county.

The commissioners court voted adopt a proclamation for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of Southeast Texas and CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Foundation Host Charity Golf Tournament.

The proclamation recognizes October 22 as the 7th annual Swinging for a Miracle Golf Tournament in Beaumont.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution authorizing Nutrition and Services for Seniors to apply for matching grant funds with the State of Texas.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an amended agreement with Tim Richardson, consultant, for professional services related to the BP Deepwater Horizon restoration process.

The agreement continues through September 30, 2019.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve the Fall 2018 Hotel Occupancy Tax allocations as recommended by the Jefferson County Tourism Committee.

The county received requests for $408,321 in funding, and approved allocations totaling $222,723.

A request for $104,552 for the Ford Park Entertainment Complex was tabled. The committee allocated $50,000 to Ford Park for the Junior Cattle Show/Convention in June/July 2020. Other allocations included $13,000 to the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau for the Cattail Marsh Education Center, $62,693 to the Jefferson County CVB for the 2019-2020 Visitors Guides, and $17,530 to Southeast Texas Baseball Academy, LLP for various baseball tournaments.
