Pasadena City Council on 7-2, with Sammy Casados and Cody Ray Wheeler opposed, to approve, on final reading, a contract with Waste Management of Texas, Inc. for commercial and industrial trash services for 3 years.

Casados said he would not support the item because it was “taking away the choice of small business owners to go out and find their own trash service people.” Listen (7:25)

The city council voted 8-1, with Casados opposed, to amend the item to add pricing for 2-yard FEL containers.

The city council voted unanimously to approve progress payments on various contracts under way in the city, including:

  • $9,642 to Brooks Concrete, Inc. for the 2018 Annual Sidewalk Project
  • $84,904 to Cruz Tec, Inc. for the City Wide Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Program
  • $247,729 to GW Phillips Concrete Construction, Inc. for the Bearle Street Reconstruction Project
  • $115,953 to Mar-Con Services, LLC for the Pansy Street Improvements Project
  • $105,125 to Peltier Brothers Construction, LTD for the WWTP Consolidation Project
  • $107,550 to Peltier Brothers for Burke Road, West Ellaine and North Main Rehabilitation
  • $43,082 to R&A Road Boarding, LLC for the 2018 Citywide Waterline Replacement Project
  • $11,757 to RAC Industries, LLC for the 2017 On Call Paving and Drainage Improvements
  • Payments of $21,280 and $5,089 to Reliable Signal & Lighting Solutions, LLC for the 2018 Annual Mobility Improvements
  • $560,692 to SER Construction Partners, LLC for the Richey Road Reconstruction Project

The city council voted unanimously to approve the payment of miscellaneous claims and invoices. Council Member Cary Bass abstained regarding any items related to Bass & Meineke.

The city council voted 8-1, with Casados opposed, to approve personnel changes for regular employees.

The city council voted 6-3, with Don Harrison, Wheeler, and Casados to approve personnel changes for finance department employees.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, continuation of the city's juvenile curfew ordinance.

The city council voted 8-1, with Casados opposed, to approve, on first reading, amending an ordinance concerning a contract with Johnston, LLC for additional design services for a new Municipal Courts building.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
