Investigation into Shooting at 5854 Southminster
News Release
Friday, October 05, 2018

Houston police are investigating the shooting of a juvenile female that occurred at 5854 Southminster Drive about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 4).

The victim, 14, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers C. Grahmann and J. Hasley reported:

The roommate of the female suspect had been robbed earlier in the evening, so the suspect showed her roommate where she kept her weapon.  The suspect then decided to teach the victim, a family member, how use the firearm.  The suspect cleared the weapon and started to show the victim how to handle the firearm.  The firearm went off and the victim was unintentionally shot in the hand and thigh.

The investigation is ongoing, but no charges are being filed at this time.
