La Porte City Council on Monday voted unanimously to order a special election for December 8 to elect a council member for At-Large Position B to fill an unexpired term ending May 2, 2020.

The candidate would replace Council Member Dottie Kaminski, who passed away last week.

The city council voted 6-2, with Nancy Ojeda and Jay Martin opposed, to approve changes to golf course fees for the La Porte Golf Course.

The changes included eliminating a separate set of fee prices for Fridays before 11 a.m.

The city council voted unanimously to return $186,000 to the city's merit program for FY2019 employee merit pay increases.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a motion to study the possibility of a new recreation and fitness facility on the bay, as well as gathering costs for the renovation of the existing recreation and fitness facility.

The city council voted unanimously to direct the city manager as discussed in closed session regarding benefits for a former employee.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present with the At-Large Position B seat vacant. Agenda
