Harris County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve an order for adoption of the proposed 2018 tax rates for the county, the Harris County Flood Control District, Port of Houston Authority, and Harris County Hospital District.

The total rate for this year of .62998 remains unchanged from last year.

The court voted unanimously to accept the retirement of David Turkel as Executive Director of the Community Services Department and appoint Daphne Lemelle as his successor. The court discussed the matter in closed session prior to the vote.

The court voted unanimously to o accept funds in the amount of $3,518,304, with a 25 percent match requirement, for the FY 2018 Port Security Grant Program.

The court voted unanimously to accept from the City of Dickinson the donation of a fire suppression system for training purposes.

The court voted unanimously to proclaim the week of October 7-13, 2018 as Fire Prevention Week.

Steve Radack abstained on an item approving sole source and professional services exemptions from the competitive bid requirements for Phonoscope, Inc.

All other agenda items, with minor exceptions, were approved unanimously with all members present. Agenda
