Nora's Home Welcomes Leader in Lung Transplantation to Board of Directors
News Release
Thursday, October 11, 2018

HOUSTON -Nora's Home, Houston's haven for organ failure and transplant patients receiving care in the Texas Medical Center, announced the addition of Gabriel Loor, M.D. to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Gabriel Loor serves as the surgical director of the Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center Lung Transplantation Program. Dr. Loor also serves as the co-chief of adult cardiac surgery at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and as the associate professor of surgery in cardiothoracic transplant and circulatory support at Baylor College of Medicine.

"We are thrilled to have Dr. Loor as an addition to our board of directors as he brings valuable clinical insight, particularly in accommodating lung transplant guests staying in the newly created lung wing," said Nora's Home Executive Director Natalie Raymer. "His contribution and expertise in this area is an incredible asset as we continue our mission to serve the transplant community in the Texas Medical Center at Nora's Home."

Dr. Loor's research interests include improved donor utilization and maximizing recipient outcomes. He is the national principal investigator on several trials using ex vivo lung perfusion - the process of preparing donor lungs outside of the body for transplantation. Dr. Loor is credited with the first "breathing lung transplantation" in the Midwest, performed in 2014. His translational lab focuses on the use of this technology to improve the quality and quantity of potential lung transplants.
