Burglary Investigation Leads to Arrest of Suspect Selling Stolen Property
News Release
Thursday, October 11, 2018

On Monday, October 8th, 2018 at approximately 11:30pm the Criminal Investigation Division of the Galveston Police Department with the assistance of Galveston SWAT served an arrest warrant in the 10100 block of Schaper Dr.  During an investigation into several island burglaries it was discovered that 33-year-old Vincent Nava was in possession of several stolen items including multiple paint density meters, each valued over $1,000.00.  During the investigation, Nava sold one of the stolen paint density meters to an undercover officer, after which, detectives secured a felony arrest warrant for Nava for the offense of Theft with a $60,000 bond.

Shortly after securing the warrant, Nava was taken into custody at a residence he had been staying at on Schaper Dr.  During the service of the warrant, detectives located and seized four firearms and more stolen property.  Another occupant of the residence was on location while the warrant was being served; however, he was released and has not been charged.

Investigators are still working to try and determine where the stolen items may have originated and Nava is expected to be charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm in the near future while he is still remanded to the Galveston County Jail.
