Beaumont City Council

Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to authorize the city manager to execute a new labor agreement with the Beaumont Police Officers Association.

The agreement includes a 3 percent wage increase effective upon execution of the new agreement, a 3 percent increase effective October 1, 2019, a 3.5 percent increase effective October 1, 2020, and a 4 percent wage increase effective October 1, 2021.

The agreement also includes increasing the amount of personal time an officer can carry from one fiscal year to another from 32 hours to 40 hours, and increases the amount of personal time an officer can accrue before year-end from 56 hours to 60 yours.

The city council voted to approve a one year contract with the Art Museum of Southeast Texas for allocating $180,000 to the museum in support of its activities.

The city council voted to approve a one year contract with the Texas Energy Museum for allocating $95,000 in support of the museum's activities.

The city council voted to approve a one year contract with BUILD, Inc. Beaumont Main Street. The city will provide $75,000 in support of the program's efforts to revitalize Beaumont's historic Central Business District.

The city council voted to approve a one year contract with the Southeast Texas Arts Council to allocate $50,000 to the council.

The funding offsets a portion of the production of the “Off Ramp” magazine and “tear off” attraction maps for distribution to hotels.

The city council voted to approve a one year contract with the Beaumont Heritage Society/John Jay French Museum to allocate $47,000 in support of the society's historic preservation and the promotion of tourism.

The city council voted to approve a one year contract with the Downtown Beaumont Cultural Arts District for allocation of $10,000 in funding support.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all member present. Agenda
