This Week on Stage

Performances and concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast area include “The Wiz” in Houston and a screening of Phantom of the Opera, with Rob Landes, in Galveston.

Theatre Under the Stars in Houston kicks off its production of “The Wiz” on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at The Hobby Center.

Additional performances are on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The show runs through November 4.

The Grand 1894 Opera House will present a screening of the silent film Phantom of the Opera with Rob Landes at the organ on Friday at 8 p.m.

“A long-standing and very popular annual Halloween tradition, Rob Landes reprises his specially-created and totally-improvised musical score for the showing of Lon Chaney's 1925 silent film masterpiece - The Phantom of the Opera,” said a news release. News Release

Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston will host Red Baraat on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Miller Outdoor Theatre will present This Joint is Jumpin’: Big Band Favorites with the Richard Brown Big Band at 8 p.m.

Beaumont Community Players will kick off its production of “Calendar Girls” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Jerry L. McMillan Studio Theatre.

An additional performance is on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The show runs through November 10.

Clear Creek Community Theatre in Nassau Bay continues its production of “Sherlock Holmes and the Ice Palace Murders” this week.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through November 4.

Bay Area Harbour Playhouse in Dickinson continues its production of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” this week.

Performances are on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through November 4.

The Alley Theatre wraps up its production of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” this week.

Performances are on Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 and 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Upcoming performances include “Why Torture is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them” opening November 16 at Island ETC, East-End Theatre Company in Galveston, and “Animaniacs in Concert”, presented by Miller Outdoor Theatre on November 9.
