37th ANNUAL ISLAND OKTOBERFEST TO PRESENT SPECIAL WINE–TASTING EVENT – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27

GALVESTON ISLAND, TEXAS -  Galveston's premier fall festival - the 37th Annual Island Oktoberfest - kicks off Friday evening, October 26 from 5-11pm; and continues Saturday, October 27 from 11 am - 11 pm. This fun, family weekend will feature a new event this year –a special wine-tasting class/event –presented by Richard Quintanilla, CSW (Certified Specialist of Wine), CSS (Certified Specialist of Spirits) with Favorite Brands, LLC – distributor of high-quality small, upscale and boutique wines from around the world. This special class/event will be held from 3- 4pm, Saturday, October 27, on the festival grounds, with the class limited to 35 people. Attendees can look forward to tasting a variety of five wines – beginning with a sparkling wine, then chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot and concluding with a cabernet - each paired with seasonal fruit and specialty cheeses. In addition to this special class, festival goers can look forward to continuous live entertainment on three stages, an expanded menu of authentic German food and libations, Cake Wheel (featuring freshly-baked desserts), exciting children’s activities; opportunity for shopping for fine arts/crafts and gifts in the historic 1860 Lyceum, and so much more of everything that is German!

Oktoberfest will be held on the grounds of and streets adjacent to First Lutheran Church, 24th and Winnie - in historic downtown Galveston. German costumes encouraged. Island Oktoberfest admission is free. No animals will be allowed on the festival grounds.
