The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County Board of Directors today voted unanimously to authorize the issuance of sales and tax use bonds in an amount not to exceed $140 million and approve execution and delivery of the bond issuance agreement for the financing of the purchase of bus and light rail vehicles and small equipment for FY2019-2020.

The board voted to approve an advanced funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation to provide signage for bi-directional HOV lanes on US 290.

Board Member Jim Robinson said that the signage would be an “extremely important enhancement to the movement of buses and other traffic on the Northwest Freeway.” Listen (4:00)

The total cost for METRO's share of the funding agreement is not to exceed $1.6 million.

The board voted to approve a 3-year general planning consultant contract with HDR Engineering, Inc. and WSP USA, Inc. on an as-needed bases, in an amount not to exceed $5 million.

The board voted to execute a 1-year lease agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management for 54 non-revenue vehicles in an amount not to exceed $1,210,497.

All action items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present, with Board Member Lex Frieden attending via video conference. Agenda

During her report to from the Finance and Audit Committee, Board Member Cindy Siegel discussed the sales tax revenues for September, stating revenues are 4.8 percent more than budgeted year-to-date, and that sales tax revenues for the year-to-date are 18 percent more actual than the previous fiscal year.
