Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Saturday's fatal shooting of a man at 9075 Dairy Ashford.

 
Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 9075 South Dairy Ashford

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 9075 South Dairy Ashford around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (November 3).

The male victim, Hafeez Qureshi, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers K. Clark and J. Pickett reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at Sunny's Foodmart at the above address and found Mr. Qureshi suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  According to witnesses, three suspects entered the store armed with pistols and demanded cash.  Just before they fled on foot, they shot Qureshi multiple times.

The suspects are described only as black males in their early 20's, approximately 6 feet all, with thin builds.  They wore dark-colored hoodies and fled westbound towards a residential neighborhood.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4400 Almeda Genoa

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that killed two people at 4400 Almeda Genoa around 2:05 a.m. on Sunday (November 4).

The identities of the victims, a male, 28, and a female, 10, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer R. Singleton reported:

The male victim was driving a black Hyundai Accent on the wrong side of the road, eastbound in the westbound lane of Almeda Genoa, when he struck a gray Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.  The driver of the Dodge was transported to Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital with minor injuries.  The 10-year old female was a passenger in back seat of the Accent.  Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.

 
Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7301 Gulf Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 7301 Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) around 8:10 a.m. on Sunday (November 4).

The identity of the male victim, 74, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer J. Perrotte reported:

According to witnesses, the victim was operating a black motorcycle northbound on the Gulf Freeway at the above address.  As he was entering the exit ramp to the South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) he struck a puddle of water which caused the motorcycle to hydroplane and strike the concrete barrier.  The victim and his passenger, a 55-year-old female, were both ejected from the motorcycle with the motorcycle coming to a rest on top of the woman.

The male victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The passenger, the victim's wife, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 
Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10538 Beaumont Highway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 10538 Beaumont Highway (U.S. Highway 90) around 12:50 a.m. on Saturday (November 3).

The identity of the male victim, 47, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The victim was driving a black Ford F-150 northbound in the 10500 block of the Beaumont Highway when he struck the rear end of a red Kenworth tractor-trailer.  The 18-wheeler was parked facing northbound on the right shoulder of the highway.  The driver had run out of fuel, was unable to completely exit the roadway, and was partially blocking a moving lane of traffic.  The victim failed to control his speed and struck the back of the 18-wheeler.  The pickup truck's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are no charges in this incident, as the investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Male's Death at 8527 Black Tern Lane

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man that occurred at 8527 Black Tern Lane about 1:25 a.m. on Sunday (November 4).

The victim, Benjamin Ponce, 37, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officer T. Jackson reported:

Mr. Ponce's wife found him unresponsive at the front entryway of their residence at the above address.  Both his wife and responding Houston Fire Department paramedics unsuccessfully attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).  Ponce showed signs of injuries that may have occurred during an assault, however his cause of death is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The investigation is continuing.
