Missouri City City Council on Monday voted unanimously to award contracts for employee benefits for 2019.

The benefits take effect January 1 and continue through December 31 of 2019. The city is entering into an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas for dual option medical insurance services, MetLife for dual option dental insurance, and United Health for vision insurance.

The medical insurance policy premium totals $4,460,195, a 7 percent increase over the previous year. Dental is a 2 percent increase, and vision a 3 percent increase in rates.

The city council voted to approve, as amendmended, the first reading of an ordinance granting a request for a specific use permit to allow the location of a place of assembly northwest of Lexington Place subdivision and southeast of the intersection of 5th Street and Independence Boulevard.

The city council voted to adopt the city's 2019 Texas Legislative Agenda.
