Harris County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to authorize transfer of funds in the amount of $2 million from the general fund to Juvenile Probation to reopen the currently closed Juvenile Unit at the Harris County Psychiatric Center.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution of intent to establish a Harris County Property Assessed Clean Energy Program and set a public hearing date of December 18, 2018 in accordance with Local Government Code.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the contribution of a total amount of $750,000 to the Communities in Schools Mental Health Initiative using Child Safety and County Judge Office funds.

“For too many years, we didn’t think about children’s safety in terms of mental health,” said County Judge Ed Emmett. “By doing this, this will actually help out Communities In Schools – a longtime great organization – to put mental health professionals in a lot more schools.” Listen (1:03)

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve the transmittal of the amended Harris County Supplemental Action Plan for 2017 Texas Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funding in connection with Hurricane Harvey.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint County Judge-elect Lina Hidalgo as the primary voting member to the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Transportation Policy Council, with Precinct 2 Commissioner-elect Adrian Garcia as her alternate, for a term ending December 31, 2019.

Steve Radack abstained on an item requesting approval of sole source, personal, and professional services exemptions from the competitive bid requirements for Phonoscope, Inc.

Earlier in the meeting, the commissioners court announced that Governor Greg Abbott declared the closure of state offices on December 5 to mourn the late President George H. W. Bush.

The meeting was adjourned in memory of the 41st President of the United States.
