County Offices Closed in Observance of National Day of Mourning in Honor of President George H.W. Bush

GALVESTON COUNTY, TEXAS— Galveston County will be closed on December 5th, 2018 in observance of the National Day of Mourning in honor of President George H.W. Bush.

President Donald Trump has declared that December 5, 2018 will be a National Day of Mourning throughout the United States in remembrance of President George H.W. Bush. Similarly, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an official proclamation honoring the life and work of President George H.W. Bush and also declared December 5, 2018 as an Official Day of Mourning in the State of Texas. The Governor has ordered the closure of state offices on this day to allow employees the ability to attend memorial services and pay respects to the late President George H.W. Bush.

Keeping in line with President Trump and Governor Abbott, Galveston County offices and departments will be closed on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 in observance of the National Day Mourning.

President George H.W. Bush’s numerous contributions to America, including as a WWII veteran, Texas Congressman, CIA Director, Vice-President and President, will never be forgotten. County employees are encouraged to take this time to pay their respects to the memory of a great Texan and great American, George Herbert Walker Bush.
