Pasadena City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, an 3 percent salary increase for every full-time non-classified civilian employee, with the exception of police service officers, fire marshals, and city marshals, and part-time non-classified civilian employees whose standard hours equal 20 per week or more.

Lifeguards and seasonal recreational employees were excluded from the pay increase.

The city council voted unanimously to approve progress payments on various contracts for projects underway in the city, including:

  • $162,320 to Mar-Con Services, Inc. for the Pansy Street Improvements Project
  • $543,351 to SER Construction Partners, LLC for the Richey Road Reconstruction Project
  • $11,225 to Texas Pride Utilities, LLC for the 2018 Citywide Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Phase III Project

The city council voted unanimously to approve payment of miscellaneous claims and invoices. Council Member Cary Bass abstained on items related to Bass & Meineke.

The city council voted 6-3, with Cody Ray Wheeler, Sammy Casados and Don Harrison opposed, to approve personnel changes.

The city council voted 7-2, with Casados and Harrison opposed, to approve, on final reading, award of a $545,000 contract to Brooks & Sparks, Inc. for the preliminary evaluation of Red Bluff Road from State Highway 225 to Spencer Highway.

The city council voted 7-2, with Casados and Wheeler opposed, to approve, on first reading, an agreement between the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation and JMDH Real Estate of Pasadena, LLC.

The city council voted 8-1, with casados opposed, to approve, on first reading, an ordinance amending the annual budget for FY2019.

The city council voted 8-1, with Harrison opposed, to approve, on first reading, an amended and restated industrial district agreement with the Port of Houston Authority within the Port Industrial District.

The city council voted 6-3, with Harrison, Casados and Wheeler opposed, to disannex property from the city for inclusion in the Port Industrial District. The item was approved on first reading.

The city council deferred action regarding the granting of two variances to the city's Code of Ordinances concerning lot dimensions for the Parkway Trails subdivision project.

The city council voted 8-0-1, with Casados abstaining, to accept and file executed industrial district agreements.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
