Kemah City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve the reappointment of Don Johnson to the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District Board of Directors.

The city council voted 4-1, with Matt Wiggins opposed, to move forward with purchasing additional new furniture for the City Hall, Police Department and Municipal Court, in an amount not to exceed $42,000.

The city council voted 4-1, with Kyle Burks opposed, to approve the use of the city parking lot for the Kemah Crawfish Festival.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a request for a Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant for “Beards on the Bay” in the amount of $5,000.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the extension of Bel Road across State Highway 146 and connecting to the Shoppes at Kemah road as a Kemah Community Development Corporation Project.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize staff to work with the owner of 88 acres of property to create a municipal management district and confirm such with the city council, as discussed in closed session.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize staff to work with legislators to pass a bill to allow the city to utilize previously approved legislation to allow the city to retain a portion of state sales taxes for a hotel/convention center project, as discussed in closed session.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
