LIT names Executive Vice President/Provost

BEAUMONT – After national search conducted by Lamar Institute of Technology for an Executive Vice President and Provost, Dr. Kerry Mix has been named the sole finalist. Dr. Mix, in this newly created position, will serve as deputy to LIT President Dr. Lonnie L. Howard.

Dr. Mix’s impressive career includes community college and university experience; he will leave his position as Provost at Arkansas State University – Beebe after two and a half years to join his new team at LIT.

He has expertise in student services, workforce development and academic affairs. He has held positions as an Electronics Faculty member, Educational Consultant, Ambassador Coordinator, Dean of Enrollment Services, Dean of Business/Technology and Vice Chancellor for Academics and Provost.

He also was selected to be a Research Assistant for the Center for Community College Student Engagement as well as a Liaison for National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development. This amounts to over 14 years of higher education leadership experience.

Dr. Mix earned an AAS, BAAS, MS and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. He is scheduled to begin on January 7, 2019.
