Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to reappoint several members to the Jefferson County Historical Commission.

Reappointed were Linda McMahen, Sarah Bellian, Mary Darbonne, Jessie Davis, Theresa Goodness, Kate Hambright, Bruce A. Hamilton, Brenda Jackson, Steven Lewis, Mike McGreevy, Les McMahan, Paul Prosperic, Don Smart and Jen Trenbeath.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding the adoption of a resolution implementing regulation of stray dogs in Jefferson County.

According to the resolution, dogs that are allowed to run “at large,” or unleashed or unfenced, “have become a growing nuisance and danger to residents and other animals and livestock” in the county.

The regulations, if implemented, would state that it is unlawful for owners to allow a dog to run or be at large on public roadways, parks, sidewalks, or other public grounds. Owners are also prohibited from allowing dogs to permit dogs to run or be at large on private unfenced lots without being humanely penned or leashed. Resolution

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an operation, management and lease agreement with LaSalle Corrections VI, LLC for the Jefferson County Downtown Jail.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept a $3,000 donation from BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals for use at Veterans Memorial Park.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding either a buyout or acquisition method for the county’s application to the Texas General Land Office for grant funds for homes destroyed by Hurricane Harvey.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Brett Weldy and John Johnson to the Jefferson County Emergency Services District No. 1 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Mike Douget and Bryan Phelps to the Emergency Services District No. 3 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Charlie Reneau and Sandra Melton to the Emergency Services District No. 4 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to award a $113,066 contract to Daniels Building & Construction for repairs to the Ben J. Rogers Visitors Center.
