News Release
Thursday, December 20, 2018

SANTA FE, Texas — The Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation awarded $34,852.49 this fall to Santa Fe ISD schools as a part of their Grants for Great Ideas program. These grants will fund new innovative educational programs such as a Robotics Club and a Pilot Mentor Program at the jr. high. The Foundation also has set the date for their 9th Annual Gala to be held at the Nessler Center on February 7, 2019.

The Education Foundation awarded grants for seventeen projects across the district. They are funding a new Robotics Club and a Pilot Mentor Program at the jr. high. Library books and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lab equipment and supplies are also a part of this semester’s grant awards.

One of the ways the Foundation raises funds for these grant awards, is at their annual gala. “This year’s event is themed Love – Laugh – Learn, and we are going to have fun with two musical acts,” said Gala Committee Chair Pam Schwertner. “There are a group of educators in Santa Fe ISD who are also talented musicians and singers. Liz Davis and Steve Rose will play during our event’s cocktail social. After dinner, we bring everyone together for a brief presentation about the programs we have funded across Santa Fe campuses, then we re-start the entertainment featuring Mickey Hobbs. If you can’t have fun dancing to Mickey, then you can’t have fun!” Tickets for the event can be purchased online at Sponsorships are also available.
